My recap for this week is shorter than normal. I feel like I haven’t been doing a lot besides scrolling on my phone 🫣.
Reminder (for us all): it’s okay to have slower weeks.
Reminder (to myself): it’s okay that this newsletter isn’t stocked full of different things.
Don’t Cry For Me by Daniel Black
I really liked it
This novel is made up of letters from a dying Black man to his estranged gay son. This was painful. I found it interesting to be in the mind of the non-accepting/homophobic person instead of being in the mind of someone whose values mirror mine. Despite that making it a tough read, I found the writing beautiful and the story well told.

Survivor is back, baby! I come from a Survivor family and look forward to every new season, even though the “new era” could never measure up to the masterpieces of old seasons. My beginning of the season winner pick (I picked before watching so no spoilers here) is Genevieve.
I’ve continued watching The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives this week. I am watching it so slowly. It’s only eight episodes so it’s surprising I haven’t finished it within the past week. I haven’t been wanting to watch anything recently. I don’t want to say too much for fear of speaking too soon, but so far it’s just okay.
If you read my Autumn Bucket List post you would see that one of the items is watching a cozy show. I decided to start on that one right away by beginning Charmed! I’ve seen bits and pieces before but have never watched all the way through. The vibes of the show are exactly what I was looking for this season.
I don’t have anything to include for listening this week so I’m going to switch this up this week and might rotate out sections moving forward.
Goal 1: Get off your phone
I’ve been scrolling way too much which I know doesn’t make me feel my best. I want to work on things that’ll keep me off my phone this week.
Goal 2: Go for at least one walk
It’s going to be a wee bit cooler this week and I’m ready to get outside.
Goal 3: Take more photos of the little things
Every week when I come on here, I look at photos for my little joys and there’s so little? I’m putting effort this week to do more.

My husbee treated me to an apple watch. It’s been something that I’ve been on the fence about for years and finally bit the bullet. So far, I LOVE IT!
An elite wind-down snack: popcorn w/ milk duds + a dr. pepper cream soda.
Sprecher at the dollar tree???? IYKYK this find is insane
I took my grandma, who no longer drives, to the casino to get her out of the house and I left with more money than I came with so that’s a major WIN!
Let me know what you’re up to this week!
xoxo
